I appreciate the info on Riskey, I am glad he has such a good home.  When I bought Duchess from Jennifer, Riskey had already been sold.  My interest in her heritage stems from her being such a GREAT horse.  Her dam is a buckskin and white paint who is not homozygous. However, we do think that Duchess may be homozygous because she does have a bear paw on her side and many small spots. We do plan on breeding her in a couple of years. But we will be happy with the foal regardless of color or markings.

We do not show, our 2 horses are our companions. We ride for pleasure. This weekend, we will be taking Duchess to Church with us for the first time (If you did not know, Cowboy Churches are a big
deal in Texas). My daughters (10&15) are getting barrel fever. Duchess will be ridden in an arena setting for the first time. I am sure she will do great. I can bet that I will be asked about her breeding.

I would be delighted to be a reference for Riskey. Duchess is the second opportunity I have had to train (the first was many yrs ago).  Hence, I am far from being a skilled trainer. I watch a lot of RFD
TV-Perelli, Anderson, Cameron, Cox and others (my dvr is full). When I purchased her, I planned on having her professionally trained. I started her basic ground schooling when she was very young and quickly discovered how smart she was. She follows cues and looks for the release of pressure. She has trained me as much as I have trained her.

Her stop is great, just have to shift my weight back and say whoa, then she tucks that rear end to a halt. That reining blood is apparent. She pays constant attention to me on the ground or in the saddle. She is so trusting and willing. If I have to dismount in the pasture she stands still until I get back on her. I feel like she is saying-What are you doing? We are not done riding yet. This gal does what she is told until I tell her to do something else...will walk, trot, lope (slow and smooth, by the way) in the instructed direction until told otherwise. Bareback, with a halter- no problem. Also, she is doing good picking up correct leads (when I get positioned right and free up her shoulder). She hops right in the trailer and loves her baths. Oh yea, she crosses railroad tracks, water and jumps logs. We are very pleased with our 2006 Risk-A-Dance filly. Did I mention how well this 2 yr old neck reins?

I will send ya some pictures of her in the arena.

Take care,
Angie McKinney

We purchased three horses last summer from Naht Quyta Ranch. I met Terry online thru an ad he had posted listing some yearlings for sale. Originally I contacted him about a black and white filly he had listed, but when Dean and I got there we ended up buying three mares (and none of them was the one we originally went to see!)

I fell in love with Izzy instead of her pasture mate and bought her instead—then we were shown her full sister Blaze; again it was love at first site. Of course Blaze was buddies with Cheyene so we had to get her as well. Dean would have taken Blaze and Izzy’s mom (Sangria ASJ) as well if she had been for sale. He spend quite some time scratching her back for her—and if the baby she was carrying at the time had been another filly we would have bought her as well (but unfortunately for us—she had a boy instead).

Terry and Agnes welcomed us to their home and ranch; we had a wonderful visit and looked at most of their other horses including the stallions, which were all very nice quality. They kept the girls for us until we could get the pasture ready for them and then were kind enough to provide delivery as well for a very reasonable cost.

We have been breeding horses for about 18 years—and as a testament to their horses--- I came home with three tobiano mares even though I was only in the market for overos. These girls were just too good to pass up! I would recommend them to anyone who is in the market for a well put together paint.

You can’t own a horse in Tennessee and live in California

Those were the words my husband told me. That is before we found Jester, my dream horse.

It all started when my husband asked me what I wanted for our 35th wedding Anniversary. I told him I wanted a horse and not just any horse but a sorrel and white paint and that he or she had to be young. My husband still insisted that it would not happen until he retired and we moved to our ranch the Double H in Huron, Tennessee, which was still a couple of years away. I asked my husband to do a web search so that I could show him exactly the kind of horse that I was interested in. Well, we found the most beautiful lil’ sorrel and white colt that I had ever seen. My husband printed out his picture and it remained on my refrigerator door for several months and everyday I would tell my husband just how beautiful Jester was.

My husband contacted Terry several months later and in Aug 2007 Jester was mine. Then just a few months later we purchased another, Shadow who is a gun metal blue Pinto. Then in March of 2008 my husband purchased Wendy, a black and white Pinto mare for me for my birthday. You can’t own one but you can own three my husband now laughs!

We can’t wait to retire and move to our ranch and have our horses around us. But we know that Terry and Agnes are watching over them with loving care. Terry and Agnes often send us pictures of the horses and have even gone that extra mile to send us some of their baby pictures.

We both recommend NQR to anyone seeking to purchase a foal or horse. Terry and Agnes both take the time to answer questions and make you feel at home on their ranch. We also can tell they are knowledgeable about their horses and ranching. Jerry, my husband has been able to visit them every couple of months while on business trips and always enjoys visiting with all of the NQR horses and with Terry and Agnes. We thank Terry and Agnes for allowing us to live the dream of owning horses once again!!

Please feel free to contact me at 909-519-7280 to speak with me personally regarding my personal recommendation for NHAT QUYTA RANCH.
